One Sentence Review-

“Charming children’s book which will stand up to countless re-readings.”

Extended Review-

“Nobot” is the heartfelt tale of Bernard the sad sack robot, (I can’t help but suspect his character to be based on Dylan Moran’s Bernard from Black Books), who has the misfortune of leaving his bottom behind on a swing. Incapable of sitting down, or more importantly doing his signature wiggling, jiggling dance, Bernard enlists his animal friends to help track down his missing posterior. I have now read Nobot more than two dozen times, making it, (much like Like A Rolling Stone in the music kingdom), the piece of literature I am most au fait with through sheer over-exposure. I have come to love Nobot and both Izzy and I can quote huge chunks of it off by heart and still enjoy a very innocent giggle over the part where Bear says, “I couldn’t play drums on your bottom because it made a funny noise.” For a children’s picture book it is refreshingly endearing, beautifully illustrated and bears up to many, many re-readings, often mere minutes after you last arrived at the inevitable happy ending. (Nb. there is a twist in the ending of Nobot. It’s not quite The Sixth Sense, but I’m not going to include a plot spoiler. Let’s just say poor Bernard should have learnt his lesson and avoided swings).

Izzy also recommends-

The Wheels On The Bus- Ladybird Book Collection (Particularly the song about the peas).

Izzy Carson is almost three years old. She lives in East Belfast, Northern Ireland. She enjoys jumping in “muddy cuddles”, doing ballerina moves in public and devouring books, (a talent her proud aunty prayed into her long before she first unfurled). She is beautiful and furious and witty beyond her three small years. She is incredibly loved.
